2007-04-17 - 2:01 p.m. Try It, You Might Like It ************ I hadn't anticipated becoming the sort of girl who blogs hair care advice, but it looks as though I'm about to, so you can stop reading now if you aren't particularly interested in such things... The last time I was in the hair care section at the drug store I noticed for the first time a row of tiny bottles of olive oil there, and had a little chuckle to myself. Their labels promised that the bottles contained 100% pure olive oil, which was funny because bottles of exactly that were also being sold in the food section, except that those bottles were about four times bigger and cost half as much. Oh, cosmetics industry... After I'd left the drug store, I thought about those teeny little bottles a couple more times, then decided to try it out for myself, partly because I was curious, and partly because treating my body like a science experiment from time to time is, to me, mildly amusing. I lubed up my hair using luxurious Bertolli brand olive oil, wrapped it up into a greasy ponytail, waited half an hour or so, then shampooed it out twice, because shampooing twice seemed like the right thing to do. And the result of my experiment was the softest, shinest hair that has ever lived on my head. Softer and shinier than the soft, shiny hair you get after using a box of hair dye. So soft! So shiny! (So soft and shiny that I'm tempted to use three exclamations marks. No, wait, so soft and shiny that I'm going to. So soft!!! So shiny!!!) Seriously. Jamboreeing this information is kind of lame, but this, this is worth it.
