Things I Have To Do Before Leaving the Country (A List I Share For Its Comedic Value as a Commentary On How I Live) ************ -Get vaccinated for Encephalitis. This is going to end up costing me a little more than three hundred dollars, which is insane. But, knowing that worst case scenario Encephalitis could result in me being permenantly retarded, the three hundred dollars seems worthwhile. Also, I really don't feel that retardation is a stress I need to bring to my new marriage. -Decide what outfit I'll wear to meet Shuhei at the airport. Yes, I know, this is silly. But silly hobbies are important too, and I like my clothes. I was going to email pictures of contender outfits to the Neurotic Dancer (http://omigod.wordpress.com) but it seems that I've lost my digital camera, so this may or may not happen... -Find my digital camera! I'm almost sure that it's still in the apartment. I can not articulate how frustrating it is to be living in a fort - a space maybe ten feet long by a single mattress-width wide - and to somehow have misplaced my camera. My new fear is that it could be in Michael's room, and that I may never find it again. (For those of you not in the know, Michael pushes garbage out of the way to make room for himself to sleep.) -Gleaning UVic Course Packs. A course pack is basically a collection of the ten or so most interesting articles that a University professor has read during their entire crusty career, and they cost about one percent of what tuition would. I would also like to glean items on reserve, but I suspect that most professors aren't going to have those set aside until the very last minute.* -Get birth control, lots of it. Maybe a year's worth, which is insane, but I really don't feel that a pregnancy scare is a stress that needs to be brought to my new marriage either. And yes, despite the upcoming marriage, to me pregnancy is still very scary indeed. ************ * That said, anyone who's interested in what I think is interesting can glean from my favorite teachers at the UVic bookstore or search for stuff here: http://voyager.library.uvic.ca.ezproxy.library.uvic.ca/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?DB=local&PAGE=rbSearch In my opinion, it would be worthwhile to keep an eye on what... Richard King Timothy Iles Gary Kuchar Kathryn Kerby-Fulton Iain Higgins Helen Lansdowne ...are having their students read.
