2006-07-14 - 9:16 p.m. Reality Part II ************ Yesterday Sakaguchi Ango's hero asked where reality resides and failed to come up with any good answers. So I say that we each compose our own realities and that maybe we ought to be actively involved in this process. I say that realities mainly composed of Sakaguchi Ango's External Trivialities are no good. I say that we should try to make our realities more interesting than that... For me, exercises with reality are pretty fun. Here are my favorite ones for while walking the down street: -Pretending that I have the plague. I imagine yellow stink/disease lines emanating from me, and infecting everyone I walk past. I do this one when I'm feeling really cranky. Towards the end of my last semester at UVic, this is what I was often thinking while walking down the halls. -Pretending that I'm walking into the future, which is, of course, actually true, but doing it with as much drama as possible. I use my very best posture when imagining myself walking into the future. -Pretending that I'm an explorer going somewhere I've never before. For some reason, I find this one to be the most appropriate for walking towards a setting sun. I try to look at everything around me with a fresh pair of eyes. Sometimes I notice pretty things that I hadn't before, and sometimes I notice gross looking things. Such are the experiences of an explorer.
